JQ Academy

From the courtroom to the command line.

The JQ Academy is not a coding bootcamp. It is a total immersion into the practice of legal engineering. Over 12 weeks, you will move from writing legal briefs to writing Python scripts that automate contract review. You will go from interpreting statutes to building APIs that parse regulatory updates in real-time. By the end of the program, you will be a builder—capable of designing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade legal infrastructure.

The curriculum is brutal and deliberately paced. We do not coddle. We build. You will ship production-ready code before you graduate.

What you will build.

Graduates of the JQ Academy leave with a portfolio of real, deployed projects. Previous alumni have built:

• An open-source Python library for scraping and normalizing EAC and ECOWAS regulatory publications.
• A Slack bot that provides instant summaries of new Nigerian and Kenyan case law.
• A web app that allows legal aid organizations in South Africa to triage client cases using NLP.
• A smart contract auditing tool specifically designed for the DeFi landscape in East Africa.

You will not just be a student. You will be a contributor to the JQ Codebase—a shared, open-source library of legal engineering tools that is accessible to every African lawyer who wants to build.

The JQ Academy is not a one-off course. It is an entry point into the JuriQuants ecosystem. Upon graduation, you gain automatic membership into the JQ Red Team—our active, working group of legal engineers who take on paid consulting projects for fintechs, banks, and governments across the continent.

You will be mentored by founders, CTOs, and senior legal engineers who have built some of the most innovative legal systems in Africa. You will not be assigned a mentor; you will be embedded into a working project from day one.
